We trust you are keeping well and coping okay during these difficult, unprecedented times?
Following the instruction from the Government to close our doors to the public on 20th March 2020 due to the Covid-19 crisis, our strategy to cut our revenue costs to a minimum appears to be paying off and, together with the government business support grant, our financial position isn’t too bad at this moment in time. Clearly we need to
monitor the situation on a daily basis and anticipate what our financial position may be in a further 3-6 months time should the pub remain closed. The Plunkett Foundation who are our professional advisors provide us with advice and support on a daily basis and we are constantly talking with other community owned pubs across the country
who find themselves in the same position as us.
Work is on-going behind the scenes to identify other funding streams such as alternative income generation and we will be applying for a further £25K grant through the Plunkett Foundation.
Also, a number of our members continue to volunteer their time to vulnerable households of our local community who cannot leave their homes for essential items such as food, medication etc…
Finally, a gentle reminder to those members who are yet to provide confirmation of their contact details so that we can ensure that our shareholder register is kept up to date and we can submit our returns to HMRC for tax relief. Can you please confirm the name of the shareholder, number of shares held, postal address, email address and phone number. Returns required by 10th May 2020.
We will endeavour to keep you all updated on the situation and we are confident that our Community Pub the Auctioneers Arms will open its doors and continue where we left off when the time is ready.
Stay safe and look after yourselves.
Caverswall Community Society.
It was with great regret and sadness that following the Government guidance relating to the Covid pandemic crisis we had to TEMPORARILY close the Auctioneers Arms (and The Gavel) on Friday 20th MARCH 2020.
To all our customers, staff, volunteers and shareholders, we repeat the government advice. Stay at home, keep yourselves, your friends and your neighbours safe and let’s support our NHS.
We intend to re-open the Auctioneers Arms as soon as we are allowed to where we look forward to your custom and continued support. All events are cancelled until further notice.
REVISED OPENING HOURS, NEW CHILDRENS POLICY AND LIVE ENTERTAINMENT
The Auctioneers Arms will now be open every day from 12.30pm, closing times will remain the same.
With immediate effect we are introducing a revised Child Restriction Policy. Accompanied, well behaved children will be welcome in the bar until 5pm. Children will be welcome in The Gavel until 7pm unless dining, when it will be until 8pm. Children will not be served at and will not be permitted at the bar (this is already enshrined in Licensing Law).
Acting on government advice, all live entertainment is cancelled until further notice.
In addition, our evening food menu will now be served Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
Thank you for your continued support
Caverswall Community Societies next AGM will take place on Wednesday 25th March 2020 at 19:30 hrs. The venue will be Dilhorne Recreation Centre, New Road, Dilhorne, Staffordshire ST10-2PQ. The meeting is for members only, all shareholders are welcome to attend and should receive a formal invite by either email or post.
“I am very impressed with The Auctioneers Arms and how the community has pulled together to get it reopened and up and running. I don’t go in very often, but I think it’s definitely a lesson in how communities can make great things happen for their residents”
